日本東北地區福島外海12日清晨4時22分（台北時間今天清晨3時22分）發生規模6.8地震，地震並引發小海嘯，所幸2011年受創的福島核電廠與周邊核設施並無異常。

日本放送協會（NHK）報導，日本氣象廳表示，地震深度為海平面下10公里，就連震央外約250公里的東京大樓，也感到搖晃。

在地震發生後，氣象廳曾發出海嘯警報，幸好測得小海嘯只有20公分高，也沒有傳出重大的財物損失，因而在稍晚解除警報。

2011年東北強震受創的福島核電廠和附近2座核設施都未傳出異常現象。根據美聯社報導，福島1名68歲老婦跌下樓梯摔斷腿。除此之外，並未傳出任何災情。
