HDC全名為Hill Descent Control system，中文翻譯名稱多為「陡坡緩降控制系統」，這套系統顧名思義就是讓車輛可以自動的以理想的速度向下前進，讓駕駛人可以安全、沈著的面對車輛在陡坡下行時的危險。這套系統首見於1997年的LAND ROVER第一代的Freelander上，隨後並延伸至其它的車系，甚至也出現在BMW、PORSCHE等LSUV中。
