彰化縣長魏明谷28日上午應邀參加社頭鄉「幸福織襪嘉年華」活動，關心在地織襪產業，並參觀台灣織襪文物館，和與會貴賓及在地鄉親共同推銷在地產業，期望未來能與在地民間產業合作，推動織襪產業觀光。

魏明谷表示，社頭是襪子的故鄉，市佔率大約七、八成，所以，襪子可說是社頭鄉的特色之一，未來如何將織襪產業特色與在地的觀光做完美結合，並將它發揮到淋漓盡致，縣府將與在地民間產業合作，完善的規劃，共同推動織襪產業觀光。

魏明谷指出，台灣許多火車站都有它的特色，如車埕車站、水里車站及集集車站都有其明顯特點，可以參考這些行銷方式，讓社頭火車站有亮點，社頭火車站前的腹地具有開發潛能，以在地車站為據點，用觀光旅遊交通支線為輔助，社頭襪子產業與觀光事業相輔相成，未來搭乘火車乘客及遊客，經過或特地來到社頭可以休閒遊憩、參觀織襪產業並品嘗社頭特產芭樂，將社頭打造成熱門觀光景點。
